His father led the first and only true rebellion against the Countess Dracula. Believing his father had died, he was taken in by the Countess and made one of the first of her flock. A child when his father fell, he was raised at Castle Dracula and turned when he was twenty. Knowing his origins and understanding his value as a trophy, Ivan enjoys his power as a vampire but does not forget what it cost him, or what was taken from him. Of her "children," he is the one she holds the least sway over, and therefore indulges the most often.
